Metabase BI Developer (Remote)

Role Overview

About the Project

We are a healthcare SaaS startup building a secure, server-side analytics alternative to Google Analytics. We have a PostgreSQL database generated by Matomo that collects website traffic, UTM parameters, and conversion events.

We are looking for a Metabase BI Developer to connect Metabase to the database and build a clean, GA4-style dashboard for client reporting.

• This is fully remote, contact role. Project is approved for up to 30-hours per week.

What You'll Do

• Write custom PostgreSQL queries to extract campaign performance, user journey, and conversion event data from the Matomo database schema.
• Build a clean 3-tab Metabase dashboard for client-facing analytics.
• Create visualizations for traffic, campaign performance, and conversion funnels.
• Optimize queries for performance and usability.
• Work in a sandbox environment using synthetic traffic data.
• Provide the final Metabase configuration / setup instructions for internal deployment.

Dashboard Requirements

1. Traffic Overview

• Daily visitors
• Sessions
• Pageviews
• Line charts and trend views

2. Campaign Performance

• Conversions by UTM source, medium, and campaign
• CPA / conversion rate metrics where available
• Performance table and summary views

3. Conversion Funnels

• Landing Page → Lead Form → Appointment Booked
• Drop-off rates by funnel step
• Funnel visualization and supporting SQL logic

Required Skills

• Strong PostgreSQL experience, including JOINs and query optimization
• Hands-on Metabase dashboard development experience
• Strong SQL skills
• Experience with web analytics metrics such as UTMs, sessions, pageviews, conversion rates, CPA, and funnels
• Ability to work independently in a sandbox environment and provide clean handoff documentation

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with the Matomo database schema
• Experience building GA4-style dashboards
• Healthcare SaaS or healthcare marketing analytics experience
• Experience with client-facing analytics dashboards
• Product analytics or conversion funnel reporting experience

Working Arrangement

• For security reasons, you will not be given access to the production environment. Work will be completed in a cloned Metabase sandbox connected to a dummy PostgreSQL database with synthetic traffic data.
• Final deliverables should be packaged so the internal team can deploy the dashboard configuration internally.
