Role Overview

Job Title: Staff Python Engineer (AI Healthcare Startup) Location: Bay Area or Los Angeles (Hybrid/Remote) Compensation: $160K - $200K annually (Contract-to-Hire) Contract: 3-month contract with potential conversion to full-time

They're looking for a Staff-level Python Engineer who can help design and scale core systems powering their platform. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, enjoys moving quickly, and has experience building products that scale from startup beginnings to production-grade systems.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and scale backend systems and APIs using Python
• Contribute to the architecture of AI-driven healthcare products and data pipelines
• Work closely with product, data, and engineering teams to deliver production-ready features
• Help establish engineering best practices, scalability patterns, and performance improvements
• Support rapid product development while ensuring reliability and maintainability as the platform grows

What We're Looking For

• 15+ years of experience building software products with Python
• Proven experience working at startups that have scaled quickly
• Strong understanding of system architecture, scalability, and production infrastructure
• Ability to move quickly in an early-stage environment while maintaining high engineering standards
