What's the role?
As a Senior Recruiter for Design & Research, you will own the full recruiting lifecycle (sourcing, screening, interview strategy, offer negotiation, and close) for Product Design, UX Research, and Content Design roles across Etsy. You'll join other recruiters supporting this space, partnering closely to manage requisition load, share market intelligence, and maintain a consistent hiring bar. Together, you serve as the strategic hiring partners to Design and Research leadership: shaping role definitions, calibrating the bar, designing interview processes, and building the pipelines that bring in the creative talent behind Etsy's buyer and seller experiences. You will also carry Product Management requisitions as a secondary domain.
This role is open to candidates based anywhere in the United States.
What's this team like at Etsy?
We're Strategic Partners, Not Order-Takers: You'll join a team of three recruiters covering Design, Research, and Product. We partner directly with Director+ stakeholders to shape hiring strategy, not just fill requisitions. You'll co-own workforce planning conversations, calibrate hiring bar with leadership, and influence how teams are built. Within the recruiting pod, we split coverage by domain but share accountability for outcomes.
We Share Knowledge: We are always looking for new ways to engage and build relationships with the strongest candidates globally. As a team, we believe in sharing sourcing strategies, market intelligence, and candidate insights rather than keeping them siloed.
We Encourage Resourcefulness and Creativity: Etsy's recruiting team is encouraged to bring creative solutions and resourcefully address hiring challenges. New strategies, ideas, and approaches are welcomed: we want to hear them, test them, and scale what works.
What does the day-to-day look like?
- Own the full recruiting lifecycle for Product Design, UX Research, and Content Design roles. Sourcing, screening, intake facilitation, interview design, candidate management, offer negotiation, and close.
- Serve as the primary recruiting partner to Design and Research hiring managers leading intake conversations, advising on role scoping and leveling, calibrating candidate bar, and co-designing interview loops that yield high-signal evaluations.
- Carry Product Management requisitions as a secondary domain. Building enough context in PM hiring to run effective searches, advise hiring managers, and maintain Etsy's hiring bar across the product organization.
- Develop and maintain strong pipelines of passive Design and Research talent through direct sourcing, community engagement, portfolio review, and referral networks.
- Own interview process quality for your requisitions: designing rubrics, calibrating interview panels, facilitating evidence-based debriefs, and coaching hiring managers on structured evaluation practices.
- Track and communicate pipeline data, market insights, and hiring progress to stakeholders with clarity and regularity.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with HR Business Partners, Compensation, and the broader Talent Acquisition team to ensure alignment on leveling, offers, and candidate experience.
- Represent Etsy's employer brand authentically in every candidate interaction reflecting our commitment to craft, creativity, and keeping commerce human.
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are
- 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with meaningful time spent hiring Design, UX Research
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate design and research talent: you can distinguish strong portfolios from polished but shallow ones, and you know what questions surface real craft and impact.
- Track record as a strategic partner to hiring managers at the Director level or above: you advise on role definition, candidate calibration, and interview design. You're a peer in the hiring conversation, not an order-taker.
- Strong sourcing instincts for creative talent pipelines: you know where Design and Research candidates build community (portfolio platforms, conferences, design networks) and how to engage them authentically.
- Comfort with structured hiring practices: rubric-based evaluation, calibrated scorecards, evidence-based debriefs. You've either built these or operated within them effectively.
- Familiarity with Workday Recruit or equivalent ATS, and confidence working with pipeline data to inform hiring strategy.
- A genuine interest in design, user research, and the craft behind great product experiences. You stay curious about the disciplines you recruit for.
Nice to have
- Experience recruiting for Product Management roles or willingness to build PM domain knowledge quickly.
- Familiarity with marketplace or e-commerce product organizations; you understand the nuances of two-sided platform teams.
- Experience with AI-augmented recruiting workflows or tools; not required, but you're open to experimenting.
