Senior Full Stack Engineer (TypeScript / Next.js + AI-First) (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to play a key role on our engineering team by leading technical execution, guiding others, and contributing to the success of our software projects.

**Please note:

• This is a contract role approved for an initial 3-month term, at 40 hours per week, with potential for extension based on client and project needs.
• The target start date is early May. Candidates should be available to interview and onboard promptly if selected.

Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership and Mentoring: Provide strong technical leadership to the development team, offering guidance and support to junior and mid-level engineers through shared expertise and effective problem-solving.
• High-Level Design and Architecture: Contribute to the design and architecture of AI software solutions, making informed decisions on frameworks, technologies, and overall system design. Translate technical context into clear written proposals and diagrams, including flowcharts, sequence diagrams, state machines, and architecture views. Contribute to design docs, pattern documentation, and ticket-level planning artifacts. Be comfortable using Mermaid for inline diagrams and tools like Figma, Miro, Excalidraw, or Lucidchart for higher-level communication.
• Coding and Ownership: Build production TypeScript features end-to-end across frontend, backend, background jobs, data models, and tests. Own features from ticket to merge, partner with the tech lead on design questions, and raise trade-offs early. Use Claude Code and/or Codex as first-class tools in your daily workflow for planning, implementation, multi-file refactors, review, and documentation.
• Code Reviews and Feedback: Conduct thoughtful, rigorous code reviews for both human- and agent-authored pull requests. Promote code quality and alignment with standards while providing clear, constructive feedback.
• Technical Expertise and Problem-Solving: Act as a trusted technical expert and help resolve complex technical issues, including production challenges. Incorporate user and customer feedback into solutions that improve the end-user experience.
• Project Collaboration, Planning, and Execution: Work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and other team members to understand requirements and ensure technical solutions align with business goals and user needs. Contribute to project planning, estimates, and timely delivery of high-quality work.
• Process Improvement, Innovation, and Communication: Stay current with the evolving landscape of agentic development tooling, including Claude Code skills/hooks, Codex workflows, MCP servers, and sub-agent patterns. Propose improvements to team workflows and clearly communicate technical concepts and decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Quality Assurance and Deployment: Participate in quality assurance processes to ensure software reliability and performance. Collaborate with DevOps to support smooth deployment and continuous improvement of CI/CD processes.
• Risk Mitigation and Security: Identify and mitigate technical risks, implement strong security practices, and ensure compliance with coding standards.
• Professional Development and Training: Support the growth of the engineering team by helping organize training sessions and workshops focused on current technologies and effective engineering practices.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of proven experience as a Software Engineer, including technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities
• 5+ years of production TypeScript experience across Node and React
• 5+ years of experience with a modern React framework (Next.js preferred), including server-side rendering and server actions
• Production experience with a typed ORM and PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with multi-tenant auth and permissions patterns
• Experience with background job systems and idempotent event handling
• Fluency with AI-first development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor, used regularly in day-to-day work
• Strong written communication and visualization skills, with the ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear proposals and technical diagrams
• Strong collaboration skills and comfort working remotely with meaningful overlap in US working hours
• Experience with digital transformation and adapting to organizational change
• Prior consulting experience preferred

Nice to Have:

• Production LLM application experience, including prompt design, structured outputs, evals, retries, and rate-limit handling
• Experience building custom Claude Code skills, Codex workflows, sub-agents, or MCP servers
• Experience with accessibility-first headless UI libraries such as React Aria or react-stately
• Modern Tailwind and design-system experience
• Terraform and AWS infrastructure experience
• Experience with monorepo tooling at scale, such as pnpm and Turborepo
• Experience in grants, fundraising, nonprofit tech, or faith-based / mission-driven SaaS
