Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and driven Accounts Payable (AP) Manager to lead and develop our AP function and join our growing team in Barcelona.
Reporting to the Sr Director of Finance (EMEA and APAC) the Accounts Payable Manager will oversee aspects of the Accounts Payable department, review the work of staff and ensuring the accounting activities are performed accurately and in compliance with company policies and regulations.
AP Managers should have strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to multitask, work under pressure, and meet defined deadlines.
**Please note:
- Salary range (70,000 - 75,000) is in Euros per year
- This is a hybrid role, requiring to be onsite at our office in Barcelona 3x days per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Accounts Payable team across various regions.
- Define, implement, and standardize end-to-end AP processes, policies, and controls to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Distribute tasks within the team in alignment with skills, volume, and regional responsibilities.
- Monitor and manage AP performance metrics (e.g., DPO, invoice processing time, payment accuracy).
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, SOX, and local regulations.
- Foster a high-performing team culture through coaching, development, and performance management.
- Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding AP matters.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Treasury, Finance, and external vendors to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
- Oversee month-end close activities related to AP, including reconciliations and accruals.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements, and lead their implementation.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or Procure-to-Pay, with at least 2 years in a managerial or team lead capacity.
- Proven experience managing international and remote teams.
- Strong understanding of AP processes, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to drive process improvements and lead change in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in English is required. Additional European languages (e.g., Spanish) are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of indirect taxes (VAT/GST) is an advantage.
