Role Overview
About The Team
As a Quantitative Researcher on Etsy's Product Research team, you'll partner with product managers, designers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists to deliver insights that shape the future of human commerce on Etsy. We're a lean team embedded within strategy, delivering research that informs both product decisions and long-term company direction.
About The Role
In this role, you'll own quantitative research studies end-to-end, from survey development and programming through fielding management, analysis, and synthesizing results into clear, actionable findings for partners across the organization. This role also requires the ability to marry behavioral and attitudinal data, so you'll need to be comfortable querying our data warehouse to bring both lenses together. You're comfortable with foundational statistical methods like means testing as well as more advanced techniques including regression and factor analysis.
Requirements
- Desire to own the full survey research process: questionnaire development, programming, fielding, and statistical analysis (inferential stats, correlations, regression, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail with excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle competing priorities
- Comfortable presenting research findings to stakeholders with a customer-centric perspective
- Required: Experience with R or other statistical software
- Required: Experience with survey programming platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Alchemer)
- Required: SQL/database querying experience
- Preferred: Experience conducting research in ecommerce or digital product development
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, sociology, HCI, marketing)
Details/Notes
- This request will support the team while an admin is out on leave
- NYC Preferred, open to all work modes (remote/flex/on-site)
- Advanced SQL skills, data processing and analysis required using a statistical software (R, Python, SPSS)
- This role may extend or convert, depending on the needs of the team, budget availability, and contractor performance.
- Interview expectations: 30-min manager screen, followed by a 30-60 min technical assessment and case study with 1-2 members of the team
