Role Overview

**This is a full-time, on-site role based in Salt Lake City, requiring attendance in the office five days per week.**

About VFI Corporate Finance

VFI Corporate Finance is a 25-year-old equipment and project financing company

headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah, with approximately 150 employees. VFI originates

financing transactions across the United States, working primarily with CFOs, Controllers, and

VPs of Finance at middle-market, large private, and public companies. With an average

transaction size of $2 million, VFI lends with its own capital and makes its own credit decisions.

The company is now actively investing in AI to drive efficiency and growth across its sales,

credit, and operations departments.

Role Overview

VFI is seeking a hands-on, entrepreneurial Head of AI to serve as the company's internal AI

champion and guide. This person will embed themselves across all departments-Sales, Credit,

Accounting, and Operations-to learn the business deeply, identify high-impact AI opportunities,

and lead the implementation of tools and systems that drive measurable efficiency and revenue

growth. This is a long-term, strategic role as AI continues to rapidly evolve the financial services

landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Business Immersion & Discovery

  • Spend dedicated time in each department (Sales, Credit, Accounting, Operations) to

thoroughly understand current workflows and pain points.

  • Identify where AI can automate, enhance, or accelerate existing processes.

  • Develop and maintain a company-wide AI roadmap aligned with business priorities.

Sales Enablement

  • Research and implement AI tools to improve outbound sales prospecting and lead

generation for the sales team.

  • Identify and evaluate AI-powered platforms for outreach, CRM automation, and contact

intelligence.

  • Work closely with sales leadership to streamline the outbound calling process targeting

CFOs and finance executives.

Credit & Operations

  • Evaluate AI applications in the credit decision-making process to support faster, more

consistent underwriting.

  • Identify automation opportunities within accounting and back-office operations.

  • Assess and implement tools that enhance data tracking, reporting, and forecasting.

Training & Change Management

  • Teach and coach team members across departments on how to effectively use AI tools

in their day-to-day roles.

  • Create adoption frameworks that meet employees at their current skill level.

  • Serve as the go-to internal resource for AI questions, tool evaluation, and best practices.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Build and lead VFI's internal AI function from the ground up.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and continuously bring new ideas and tools to the table.

  • Partner with the CEO and COO to align AI initiatives with business goals and

communicate progress and ROI.

What We're Looking For

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of current AI tools, platforms, and large language models

(LLMs).

  • Proven ability to apply AI in practical, real-world business contexts-not just theoretical

knowledge.

  • Strong communication skills; able to translate complex AI concepts for non-technical

audiences.

  • Self-starter with a high drive to explore, experiment, and figure things out.

  • Ability to work across multiple departments and stakeholder groups simultaneously.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for being at the cutting edge of AI innovation.

Experience

Years of experience are not the determining factor-we are prioritizing depth of AI knowledge,

intellectual curiosity, and a demonstrated ability to implement solutions. We welcome

candidates who are early in their career but are recognized experts in the AI space and can hit

the ground running.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Background or interest in financial services, lending, or fintech.

  • Experience with sales AI tools (e.g., lead generation, outreach automation, CRM

enrichment).

  • Familiarity with AI applications in credit underwriting or financial analysis.

  • Experience building or scaling an AI function within a mid-size company.

Compensation will be determined based on experience and market rate for this emerging role.
