Senior Quality Automation Engineer - Remote/ US

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Quality Automation Engineer to join our growing engineering team on a 9-month contract-to-hire engagement. This role is ideal for a modern, AI-enabled engineer who is passionate about building scalable automated testing frameworks and ensuring high-quality software delivery across distributed systems.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with UI and API automation, deep understanding of microservice-based architectures, and a proactive mindset toward leveraging AI-assisted development and testing tools to improve efficiency and quality.

Experience in FinTech, payments, or POS (Point of Sale) ecosystems is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks for UI, API, and database validation.
• Develop end-to-end UI automation using Cypress.
• Implement API and database automation testing using the Karate Framework.
• Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to ensure quality across the SDLC.
• Validate microservices integrations and distributed systems workflows.
• Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and faster releases.
• Analyze test results, identify root causes, and work with engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Leverage AI-enabled development and testing tools to accelerate automation coverage and improve test reliability.
• Contribute to quality strategy, tooling improvements, and best practices across the engineering organization.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with Cypress for UI automation testing
• Experience using Karate Framework for API and database testing
• Solid understanding of microservice architectures
• Knowledge of modern web application architecture
• Proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript
• Working knowledge of Java
• Experience testing database systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration
• Experience working in cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in FinTech, payments, or POS systems
• Experience testing event-driven architectures and distributed systems
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., AI coding assistants, test generation tools)
• Experience with test data management and service virtualization
• Strong understanding of modern QA engineering practices
